The Great Purge of '08

No pun intended.

Here's all the stuff we donated to Construction Junction yesterday:

Well, okay, not quite. Two of the toilets didn't have tank lids, so they won't take those, and we're going to try to sell the cast iron pedestal sinks before we probably donate them anyway.

We also gave them this metal stool:
And this fancy mirror:

(The doors are for sale.)

On top of this, 15 garbage bags of clothes, two boxes of junk, and an ancient carcinogenic microwave were donated to the Vietnam Veterans and we threw away 4 giant black bags full of junk. And it feels SO GOOD.

There's still too much crap in this house, even after this purge and the dumpstersfull of stuff we tossed over the summer, but we're getting there. I think we're nearing the point where we start organizing the stuff that's left over, which will be great.

I need to do this so so bad too! I keep saying I'll have a mythical garage sale--- however what are the chances of that?? I keep thinking I'll organize a block long garage sale-- like I don't have enough to do? The difference between the life you want to lead in your head and reality... ha! Anyway, nice to meet you and I love your back yard. Wow. What a lot of work you have put into your home. It is stunning.

We've been in our place eight months now, and most of that time has been spent purging stuff left by previous owners and trying to sort through and purge all the things we're not sure why we brought with in the first place!

Did you put in those slate tiles, or were those already there? We're thinking about breaking up some concrete off our back door, and trying to sort out (1) the replacement options, and (2) how hard they'd be to DIY. Or DTO (Do Them Ourselves), to be accurate.

The slate was existing - it's one of the things that the previous owners did really well. We've done some moving around of other flagstones for garden paths which wasn't bad, but then again they weren't perfect, either. You should check out the brick patio that the folks at Bangor Bungalow did this summer - it's really awesome:
